Welcome Message from the Host of CCS 2.0

and Circular Cities Network President

Dear Colleagues,

It is my great honour and pleasure to extend a warm invitation to participate at the Circular Cities Summit 2.0. to be held in Dubai from 11-12 September 2024.

Join us as we convene again, after a highly successful inaugural Circular Cities Network (CCN) 1.0 in Singapore, to celebrate and acknowledge the remarkable strides we have made in propelling us towards a sustainable future and building circular cities. At Circular Cities Network, our commitment to fostering sustainability knows no bounds.

With COP28 taking place in the UAE, the MENA region stands poised to lead the global discourse and action on sustainability. Achieving net zero carbon emissions remains paramount on our agenda, requiring collaborative efforts from governments, the private sector, organizations, and individuals alike. CCN aims to recognize and applaud those leading the charge in transforming cities for the better, setting exemplary standards for all to follow.

We are humbled by the support and contributions received thus far, setting the stage for what promises to be an impactful event. During the Summit, we will showcase best practices in urban planning, architecture, engineering, design, and sustainability, highlighting creativity, innovation, and excellence in these fields.

We extend our heartfelt gratitude to our partners, sponsors, stakeholders, and supporters across the globe. We especially thank the founding organisations and the dedicated teams at the core of CCN's inception and execution. Your unwavering support has been instrumental in bringing CCN and CCS 2.0 to life.

We eagerly anticipate your presence at this momentous occasion.

Warm regards,

HE Dr. Ali Al Jassim

President of CCN

Chairman, Society of Sustainability and Green Materials

Theme:
Circular Design and Planning Integration

This year, we emphasise the integration of circular design principles into urban planning to tackle urgent environmental challenges, including extreme weather, severe traffic congestion, critical air pollution, and issues with thermal comfort. Taking place in Dubai, the summit will explore how concepts from the circular economy can be utilised to boost urban sustainability and resilience.

The summit will serve as a platform for thought leaders, practitioners, and policymakers from around the world to exchange ideas, case studies, and technologies. It aims to inspire the implementation of innovative, sustainable urban planning strategies that adhere to circular economy principles, leading to more resilient, efficient, and clean cities. Participants will depart with actionable insights and strategies, equipped to implement these ideas in their own urban settings to drive significant environmental and infrastructural change.
